Kindness Scenario, Script

Setting: Paper Towel/Toilet Paper Aisle

Each scene involves two sets of characters at opposite ends of the aisle, Curette is holding a sarcastic sock puppet alien named Irascer who uses Happy Talk to make sarcastic comments. When tickled it laughs so hard if forgets what it was saying. Maneuver is a tall capable character that helps Shackle, a short character with mobility issues, at the other end of the aisle, they do not acknowledge Curette.

Scene 1:

Scene 1

Curette is leaning against a shelf holding Irascer

Irascer:
Hey Buddy – a spokesperson says there really is a difference between Big Pharma and Drug cartells. But people still don’t need to immigrate to get away from them; because violence is everywhere and we should keep our jobs for less recent immigrants.  We believe it because why would they lie except for… except for…

Curette starts tickling Irascer, who starts out of control laughing while Curette smiles.

Irascer:
Stop that… Now I forgot what I was saying….

At the other end of the aisle Shackle is unable to reach the top shelf. Maneuver sees this and wordlessly pulls toilet paper down and hands it to Shackle. (Possibly this can only be seen from a distance also possibly in silhouette.) Possible alternative motion is for Maneuver to pick up Shackle to allow them to reach the item.

Scene 2:

Curette is in the same position as the last scene holding Irascer.

Irascer:
I saw a security guard keeping the airport safe by studying the women walking by for signs of hidden weapons. We need to have big enough bombs for the summit, otherwise I’ll never get that house in a suburb with cheery neighbors, BBQs and lots of opportunities for adultery.

Curette starts tickling Irascer, who starts out of control laughing while Curette smiles.

Irascer:
A laugh track helps everything

But now I forgot what I was saying….

At the other end of the aisle is a display and a cart that is blocking the aisle and too big for Shackle to move. Maneuver pushes them back to clear the aisle.

Scene 3:

Curette is in the same position as the last scene holding Irascer.

Irascer:
I have been diagnosed with a syndrome, that makes me feel uncomfortable because of how others might perceive my body.

– this is what all those psychology majors have brought us to. They have nothing else to do but sit around concocting names for being normal.

Curette starts tickling Irascer, who starts out of control laughing while Curette smiles.

Irascer:
You can’t believe that I would ever demean our love by using it in my art.

But now I forgot what I was saying….

At the other end of the aisle Shackle is trying to pull an item off the shelf, it falls and breaks. Maneuver pushes the item away with their foot and helps Shackle get another.

Scene 4:

Curette is in the same position as the last scene holding Irascer.

Irascer:
It is all about enlightened self-interest – The odds of writing a hit pop song is better than winning the lottery. After several years of living alone you can become completely feral, the refrigerator, the pantry and the garbage can all become the same thing. The way I see it you can either change your hair color or get out of town.

Curette starts tickling Irascer, who starts out of control laughing while Curette smiles.

Irascer:
A dog’s sole purpose is to try to get its tongue in your mouth,

But now I forgot what I was saying….

At the other end of the aisle Shackle stumbles and falls. Maneuver sees this helps Shackle up.

Scene 5:

Curette is tickling Irascer, who is out of control laughing while Curette smiles. Shackle walks by.

Shackle:
So you know where they stock canned beans?

Curette:
Can’t you see that I am busy! There are social issues and national conversations that I am very invested in.

Irascer:
(Laughs)
